From noon on Saturday 23 August, performance artist Pablo Latona is on display 24/7 in Canberra Living Artists Week (CLAW) 08 flagship event Cabin Fever. Commuters and passers-by can watch Pablo through the Alinga Street shopfront in the historic Sydney Building at the Civic Bus Interchange throughout the week, or spy on him via web cam.
Watch Pablo in his ever-changing cell as he lives, loves, sulks, and kills time using a variety of blunt instruments, inflatable toys and oddly-shaped fruit. Central to the presentation are the following key messages that are communicated through the work:
The material for Cabin Fever includes physical theatre, sound art, interactive theatre and circus. Pablo’s multi-schizoid characterisations all make appearances, but will the stress of being constantly on show be too much? How will early morning commuters take to him? And what about the late-night drunks?
Guest artists will visit Pablo and collaborate on short pieces throughout the week.
